- Receive the required number of clock hours of training.
- Complete and receive passing grades on all practical graduation requirements and projects to include examinations, both practical and theoretical.
- Satisfactorily pass final written and practical exams.
- Receive a graduation certificate and plaque.
- Pass state board exam.
INDUSTRY REQUIREMENTS
PAUL MITCHELL THE SCHOOL FRESNO believes that students interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology should:
- Develop finger dexterity and sense of form & artistry.
- Enjoy dealing with the public.
- Become aware of the latest fashions, beauty techniques and technical advances.
- Make a strong commitment to their education.
- Be aware that the work may be arduous and physically demanding because of long hours standing and using the hands at shoulder level.
TESTING AND GRADING PROCEDURES
The following tests and grading procedures are incorporated during the student's 1600 hour courses:
- Students must receive a 70% or higher grade on all tests given. Test scores are posted the Tuesday following the Friday that the test is given.
- 200 hour Orientation Practical skill evaluation test.
- 1000 hour speed test. (There is not a required time frame for students to complete services. The information is for the student's use.).
- Final Exam 1 (1200 hour written exam). This test is an overview of all related cosmetology subjects, i.e., anatomy, chemistry, etc.
- 1600 hour (mock state board-written). The written covers an overview of all theory instruction, California State Law, and other items covered on the State Cosmetology exam.
- Bi-monthly Practical Mock Board. The practical covers all phases of what is to be expected on the State Board examination.
- Twelve (12) practical monthly worksheets.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
- Receive the required number of clock hours of training.
- Complete and receive passing grades on all practical graduation requirements and projects to include examinations, both practical and theoretical.
- Work on all monthly worksheets with a 70% completion rate.
- Satisfactorily pass final written and practical exams.
- Complete the required theory hours.
- Make satisfactory arrangements for payment of all debts owed the school.
- Upon graduation the student will receive a graduation certificate and plaque.
